I am not going to explain the history of postmodernism nor go into detail about its purpose in art, philosophy, literature, math, science, and nearly every other field it has now touched.
Rather, I am going to provide a new definition of postmodernism.
It would be correct to describe me as a anti-postmodernist, however, over the years of my study I realized that the nature of its critique can be beneficial. More importantly, there is nothing post- about postmodernism. Humanity cannot go beyond modernity, rather we are trapped in one of two directions. In fact, there are only a small set of possible outcomes left for humankind. I will explain more in due time.
My definition: Postmodernism is a reflection of present reality. It is a controlled source that reflects our circumstances. Sometimes this reflection is distorted, other times it is clear but the reflection is meant to portray life in a disruptive manner . Real or unreal, postmodernism from literature and art too philosophy and science break from traditions, history, and methods in order to uproot a threat.
They did not mean to create a narrative or seek truth or reclaim reality or meaning, rather postmodern thinkers sought to destroy the world as we know it. Yet, they have become the narrative and even to an extent, a part of truth.
